The perfect-flavored Italian hardneck, also called Gambino and “Easy Peel.” It produces large bulbs with easy-to-peel cloves. The cloves are aromatic, spicy, rich and bold in flavor, which only increases with maturity. When eaten raw, a little bit goes a long way. Stores well and has 5-10 cloves. Italian Purple is an excellent all-around general use garlic and an excellent baker. Italian Purple garlic is an heirloom Rocambole hardneck garlic brought to the United States from northern Italy in the early 20th century. Rocambole garlics are considered a special but rare class of garlics.
